Robert Dale Neathery Sr., 55, passed away at 3:28 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2010, at Christian Northeast Hospital. He was born on September 14, 1955, in Alton, Illinois the son of the late Robert L. and Betty L. (Adams) Neathery. Survivors include two sons and daughters in law: Robert Dale "Rob" and Kim Neathery Jr. of Wood River, James "Jamey" and Tammie Neathery of Wood River, four grandchildren: Annelise, Rhett, Michaela, and Jaymee, one expectant granddaughter, one sister: Teresa Butler of East Alton, several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
He was formerly employed at National Marine Maintenance as a welder working on barges. He was most recently employed at Metro East Industries as a welder on rail cars. He was a member of the Wood River VFW Post 2859 Men's Auxiliary. He was enjoyed throwing darts, hunting, and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until time of funeral services at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Pastor Jeremy Robinson will officiate. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral services.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
