Nelson Buzan

Nelson E. “Buzz” Buzan, 79, passed away at 3:15 am Saturday, September 11, 2010 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Alton.

Born May 20, 1931 the youngest son of Edwin and Daisy (Deem) Buzan, he is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Mary Lou (Hill) Buzan, his sons Michael (Tamara) Buzan of Portsmouth, VA and Keith (Mary) Buzan of Leesburg, VA , and three grandsons Eric Buzan of Norfolk, VA and Owen and Seth Buzan of Leesburg, VA. 
He is also survived by his brother Milton (Elinor) Buzan of St. Charles, MO, his sister Doris Beneze of Godfrey and his sister-in-law Jane Buzan of Godfrey. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dr. Edwin Buzan, Jr. and his brother-in-law Nelson “Ott” Beneze.

Nelson loyally served in the Air Force during the Korean War and worked for Shell Oil Refinery as an operator for over 30 Years.  During his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, hunting, fishing, and bowling.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be Thursday, September 16, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral home in Alton.  Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 10:00 am at the funeral home.

Graveside service will follow at the Upper Alton Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
