Douglas Powers

Douglas Laverne Powers, 25, was pronounced dead at 4:40 a.m., Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the scene of a one motor vehicle accident in Jersey County. He was born in Alton on Nov. 22, 1984, and was the son of Jeffrey Lee & Theresa Diane (Wadlow) Powers. He had been employed with Alter Barge Lines, and was currently a service technician at Wells-Norris in Jerseyville for the past 4 years.

Surviving are his father & step mother, Jeffrey & Theresa Powers of Grafton; two children, Matthew Douglas Powers and Madalynn LeeAnne Nicole Powers both of Waco, Tx.; a brother, Ryan Lee Powers of Jerseyville; a nephew, Ryder Lee Powers of Jerseyville, and the mother of his two children, Amber Brown of Waco. He was preceded in death by his mother, Theresa Powers; his grandparents, Arthur "Dutch" and Emma Powers, and Stewart & Beatrice Wadlow.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday.  Rev. David Hargriss will officiate. Burial will be in the Fieldon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials to the Powers family would be greatly appreciated, and may be given at the funeral home.
