Josephine Schmidt

Josephine Vera Schmidt, 88, died at 4:20 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2009 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. Born April 12, 1921 in Gallup, New Mexico, she was the daughter of John and Nettie (Edwards) Henrion. She owned and worked at restaurants in the Alton area. On August 28, 1951 in Alton, she married Frank Schmidt. He preceded her in death. Surviving is a daughter, Marion (Bobbs) Yoakum and her husband Richard of Medora, two grandchildren; Ed Mathias and his wife Kathy of Alton, and Karen Mathias of California, and a special niece, Donna Reynolds and her family of Alton. She was preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Alton. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony's Hospice.
