Pahn Bai Witt, 70, died at 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2009 at her residence after a brief battle with leukemia. She was born in Bangkok Thailand on Feb. 21, 1939, and eventually met George R. Witt while he stationed there with the U.S. Air Force. The two married in Nov. 1972 at the American Embassy in Thailand, and remained there until his discharge in 1974, when they returned to Jerseyville. Bai was proud of her citizenship, as she became a United States citizen on March 8, 2001 in East St. Louis. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and was an excellent cook. She was a wonderful wife and mother, and will be dearly missed. Surviving are her husband, George R. Witt of Jerseyville; two sons & a daughter in law, Jimmie L. and Jennifer Witt of Jerseyville and Richard A. Witt of Alton; four grandchildren, Jordan, Jacob, Jade and Jasmine Witt. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday. Rev. David Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
