Virginia Ohlson

Virginia L. Ohlson, 94, passed away at 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2016 at OSF St. Clare’s Hospital and Rehabilitation.

Born Feb. 26, 1922 in Dupo, Ill., she was a daughter of Arnold and Metha (Hauberman) Gericke.

She married Donald C. Ohlson Dec. 30, 1944 in Wood River.  He passed away Oct. 17, 1998.

Virginia worked at Olin Credit Union as head teller, retiring after 25 years.  She loved playing cards and board games, reading and working puzzles.  Virginia was an avid Cardinals fan.  She had been involved in square dancing in the past, and her greatest joy was being with her family, particularly her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons, Clifford L. (Rosalie) Ohlson of East Alton and Carl L. (Michele) Ohlson of Alton; 3 grandchildren, Stephanie (Ben) Bullock, Heather (Mark) Buettner, and Thomas (Elisa) Goodman; and 9 great grandchildren, Ava, Emma, and Owen Bullock, Jackie, Madison, and Abby Buettner, and Alee, Gaven, and Gracen Goodman.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dorothy Evers.

Visitation will be Monday, May 2 at Paynic Home for Funerals from 10 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m.  Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital.
