Jane A. Chesnut, 83, passed away at 11:14 pm Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Eden Village Care Center in Glen Carbon, where she resided for the past two years.
She was born on April 13, 1932 in Manchester, NH, the daughter of Francis X. and Mary A. (McCarthy) Howe.
She married Donald Chesnut on June 9, 1956 in Dover, Delaware. He preceded her in death on June 25, 2015. The couple just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in June.
Jane was a homemaker who took great pride in her home and family. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto. She enjoyed planting flowers, bird watching, singing and card club with her husband.
As a devoted mother and grandmother, she is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Pam Broadway of Bethalto and Mary Beth and Richard Sims of Edwardsville; four grandchildren, Kayla and her husband Jordan McGaughey, Katie Broadway, Kelsey Sims and Connor Sims, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Charles Campbell.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am until services at 11:30 am Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Father Steve Pohlman as celebrant.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
