Wood River is in the process of purchasing a number of Variable Frequency Drives to install at its water plant. The drives will replace the older models, which run full speed the entire time they are on, so the city expects to save some money on the operation of the equipment.
Steve Palen, Wood River’s Public Services Director, says they are pursuing grant money for the project.

The City Council approved the execution of the rebate agreement with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity earlier this week.
