An Alton woman has been charged in connection with the death of her infant son earlier this year. 29-year-old Sharron M. Braxton of the 700 block of Oakwood Estates is charged with felony Endangering the Life or Health of a Child. Investigators say she had been drinking before she rolled over on her child after returning home early in the morning of February 15th.
It is believed she had fallen asleep in the same bed as her son, rolling over on him at some point and suffocating him. Police were called to the residence just before 9:30 that morning to the report of an unresponsive infant, who was taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital and pronounced dead shortly afterwards. The charges were filed as a result of the completion of all police and medical reports. If convicted, Braxton could face 2-5 years in prison. She is not currently in custody.
