More than 100 Amtrak passengers on their way to Chicago were forced to take a different train after the one they were on derailed. One wheel popped off the tracks before 8am Thursday as the train passed through Wood River. No one was hurt and there was no immediate cause reported for the incident.
Passengers were stuck on the train for about two hours, and then loaded onto charter buses to continue their trip and eventually board another train. An Amtrak spokesman said Amtrak Train Number 302 was moving at less than five miles per hour as it was switching from one track to another when the mishap occurred.
