For the first time in more than 15 years, Halloween will be back in full force in Carbondale. The city council voted this week in favor of lifting the ban on keg sales within the city. Before Tuesday's vote, only three bars on the Strip were allowed to remain open on Halloween for the last two years during a trial period.
City officials cite out-of-control partiers in the college town, home to Southern Illinois University, as the reason for the original ordinance. Some council members believe if all goes well they will look into holding a street fest and a city-based party.
