The Wood River Police Chief says his city’s bars and stores had a 100% compliance rate during a recent tobacco sales compliance check.  More than a dozen businesses were checked last week, with an underage youth sent into the businesses to try and buy cigarettes. 

 

Police Chief Otis Steward says these are similar to the alcohol compliance checks they sometimes perform.

He says local businesses are seeing compliance as a serious issue, but 100% compliance is not always achieved.   The following businesses passed the tobacco compliance checks:
