Alton High School graduate Cody Peckham received one more honor this week before closing the book on high school career. The Salutatorian from the Class of 2013 was named the Student of the Year by the Alton-Godfrey Rotary Club. As a result he will receive a $5,000 scholarship to help cover the costs of his college education.

Alton-Godfrey Rotary Club member Dr. Thomas Juravich says that Peckham was deserving of the honor

Dr. Juravich Comments

Juravich says that the selection committee looked at each of the 18 students eligible and made their selection based upon academic performance, extra curricular involvement and volunteer work done outside of the school.

Peckham will be attending the University of Illinois as a James Scholar and will be enrolled in the Chancellor's honors program for engineering this fall as he pursues a degree in autospace engineering.
