With the State of the State address less than a week away, what Gov. Pat Quinn will include in that speech is still a mystery. One potential topic could be passing a new capital bill, but Quinn isn’t saying one way or the other as to whether that’s in the address. “Well I’m not going to give the speech today. We’ll have a lot to say next Wednesday,” Quinn said, “but it’s important that we have continued building in our state.”

The last capital bill was signed in 2009. Another likely topic is for Quinn to call for an increase of the state’s minimum wage to $10 per hour. He proposed the same increase in his 2013 address, and has recently said he wants that raise put into effect by the end of this year. The speech is scheduled for noon Wednesday (Jan. 29).
