Who will pay to fix the hole in an Alton Middle School parking lot may be decided early next week. The hole and resulting pipe collapse has created flooding for some nearby homes, but the school district and the city have agreed to discuss the matter face to face on Monday.
One point of disagreement was whether the pipe was a culvert or part of a sewer line. Alton School District Director of Financial Services Chris Norman says SMS Engineering was called in to investigate.

The area is next to a maintenance shed located between the Main and Annex Buildings, and is now fenced off to reduce the potential for accidents or injury.
