Customers affected by a major security breach at Schnucks Markets will be reimbursed if a $2.1-million settlement agreement is approved in January. The terms of the settlement allow customers who lost money due to the breach to claim up to $10,000 and provides up to $635,000 to cover the legal fees for class action attorneys. Impacted customers can also receive up to $200 in reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses including bank fees, long distance calls and other inconveniences.
Schnucks estimates that two-million debit and credit cards were compromised between December 2012 and March 2013. Representatives say that customers receiving settlements will be notified by mail.
