"Hire good staff. Hire experienced staff," says LaHood. "And, then, make sure you don't forget where you came from. Give good service to the people who put you in this important job." The former Transportation Secretary says he's proud that his son has decided to carry on what he called the family legacy in Washington, even though he can stand on his own laurels without having LaHood as his last name. "He'll carry on a very, very strong legacy of service to the people, that was started by Abraham Lincoln, Everett Dirksen, Bob Michel, and...Ray LaHood," says LaHood.
