Illinois officials are welcoming public feedback on proposed rules for the controversial fracking program that is expected in Illinois soon.  Five public hearings downstate drew big crowds, and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources will take written comments through January 3rd.  

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn signed tough regulations into law this year to allow fracking, a process of extracting gas by using water and chemicals to crack open rock deep underground.  Environmentalists say fracking pollutes the water.
