The homeless population in Madison County totals 581 according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Point-In-Time count and organizers of an outreach program hope to see many of them during an event coming up later this month. Almost 100 service agencies of the Madison County Continuum of Care will offer those in need a hot meal, new clothing, a shower and other services during their 6th annual Project Homeless Connect event on January 29th.

Harrison also says they are still accepting donations for the event, which runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Alton Salvation Army, located at 525 Alby Street in Alton on Wednesday January 29th.
