Checking local police reports provided this morning to Z-1570, the Madison County Sheriff’s Department reported several arrests for underage drinking over the weekend at two separate incidents. Police were called around 11:50pm Sunday to a home in the 4600 block of Storeyland Drive in Godfrey for the report of possible underage drinking. Deputies reported viewing a number of people fleeing the scene on foot when they arrived, but were able to stop seven people under the age of 21 who were interviewed and arrested for underage drinking. Five were under the age of 18, and two were age 18 years old and identified as 18 year old Shanahan Snider of The Cross Ways Drive in Alton and 18 year old Nathan Schnaak of the 700 block of Autumn Rise Lane in Columbia. The others under age 18 were released to their parents with charges through juvenile court.
Police were called around 11:30pm Saturday to the report of possible underage drinking at a home in the 4800 block of Drda Lane in Edwardsville. Police met with a resident of the home who allowed deputies inside and discovered several underage people who appeared to have been drinking alcohol. Nine were under the age of 18 and were released to their parents. Five were cited for underage drinking and arrested, 18 year old Grant McWhorter of Edwardsville, 18 year old Matthew Kent of Glen Carbon, 18 year old Stephanie Gaytan of Glen Carbon, 18 year old Robert Millman of Edwardsville and 18 year old Abigail Kehrer of Edwardsville. Deputies also issued warrants for seven others who were identified as having fled the scene on foot.
Police also arrested 22 year old Amanda Carrigan of the 2000 block of Chestnut Street in Brighton for retail theft from the Godfrey Wal-Mart store last Saturday night.
