In local police reports, Alton Police responded to an apparent accident across the street from the police station yesterday morning when the driver of a pick up drove through the front door of the BP Convenience Store at Washington and Broadway.  The 82-year-old driver of the truck told police his gas pedal stuck, sending the vehicle into the front door and nearly striking an employee inside.  Police say the man put the truck in reverse but the pedal was still stuck, and that sent the vehicle backwards across the lot into a van parked at a gas pump.  No one was injured and police did not file any charges against the driver.

Charges were filed in separate theft cases this week.  33 year old Candi Eyer of the 100 block of West Cherry in Hartford is charged with theft over $500.  She allegedly stole more than $13-hundred from the Hartford Elementary School Parent’s Club.

40 year old Andrew Heilman of the 200 block of Grand in East Alton, is charged with three counts of theft over $500 for allegedly stealing more than $52-hundred from Farmer’s Brother’s Coffee and Tea.
