A light agenda at Monday’s scheduled Bethalto Board of Education meeting gave district administrators a chance to honor one of their own who is retiring next month. Debra Pitts has served as principal at Civic Memorial High School for the last eight years and will bring a 39-year career in education to a close on June 13th.
Pitts says she enjoyed working in both the Alton and Bethalto school districts but admits that it’s time to step away. She hopes that she has left a lasting legacy.
