It will be five years of existence for the Macoupin Economic Development Partnership this year, and a celebration is being planned for the group’s March meeting. It has been a challenging five years, but what started as a reaction to the closing of the county’s coal mines has blossomed into a group that supports businesses of all kinds, according to the group’s executive director.
The partnership was launched about the time the economy tanked at the start of the recession. Shari Albrecht says the members have proven to be a resilient bunch.
