The process of handing the keys to the Spencer T. Olin Golf Course at Gordon Moore Park over to new operators has begun. The Alton City Council Committee of the Whole gave preliminary approval to a resolution to lease the property to a company headed by local investors Vern Van Hoy and Tom Long. The lease would be for 30 years.
Van Hoy says there are a couple changes that they plan to institute right away.

Van Hoy is already involved in running the Rock Spring Golf Course for the city, and the two men recently purchased majority ownership of Rolling Hills Golf Course in Godfrey. Van Hoy says each operation is set up as a separate entity, but they can draw from their experience to ensure golf survives at these three facilities for years to come. Barring any problems, the final approval will come April 23, with the official change-over coming the following day.
