Authorities in Granite City are investigating an altercation that led to an officer involved shooting on Saturday. Granite City Police were dispatched to a residence located at 2440 Delmar Avenue at 2:42 p.m. following the report of a disturbance. Once on scene, an unidentified man allegedly charged at an officer with a knife, forcing the officer to discharge his weapon twice.

 

The unidentified male victim was taken to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment of his injuries. His condition is unknown at this time. Two others were also taken to a local hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries and later released.

The Illinois State Police have been called in to investigate the officer involved shooting. Granite City Police are still investigating the prior incident at the residence.
