A Republican lawmaker wants Gov. Pat Quinn to testify on the Neighborhood Recovery Initiative. State Sen. Matt Murphy (R-Palatine) said today Wednesday that Quinn should appear before the Legislative Audit Commission next month to answer questions on the problems with the anti-violence program.
Members of the commission expressed concern Monday over turning the July 16-17 hearings into a “political circus,” and Murphy doesn’t believe Quinn appearing would create that sort of environment.

“He is in just a good position as just about any, in addition to those who already been subpoenaed, to have information that is pertinent to what really happened,” Murphy said. “I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to clear up your name and clear up the record, but I don’t see why that has to be an inherently political process.”
A member of the commission, State Rep. Ron Sandack (R-Downers Grove), says no invitation to appear at next month’s hearings has been sent to Quinn.
