The Madison County State’s Attorney has announced a guilty plea in a December 2013 fatal shooting in Madison, Illinois. 26-year old Deneshion M. Swope of East St. Louis pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for allegedly shooting then 21-year-old Jarrett D. Mosby. The state will be asking for a 40-year sentence.
The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office says Swope shot Mosby seven times in Mosby’s car after a suspected drug deal went wrong. The penalty for first-degree murder is 20-60 years in prison. He would be required to serve 100% of any sentence levied against him.
