Misleading advertising, unethical sales practices, problems obtaining payments for repair work, difficulty canceling contracts, and difficulty receiving refunds are all complaints the Better Business Bureau is hearing about the extended auto warranty industry.  So, the BBB has issued a warning advising you to be very careful if considering entering into an agreement with a company that provides that service.

These companies sell vehicle service contracts on behalf of other firms that administer the plans.  BBB Investigator Bill Smith says that while some companies have made improvements in the way they do business, there are still too many cases of consumers being victimized by unscrupulous businesses or salespeople.

More than four months after the BBB issued an alert on Autoplex Extended Services, the complaints continue to roll in, according to Smith.  Based out of St. Charles, Missouri, the business has been accused of using misleading mailings to persuade customers to buy vehicle service contracts, and then refuse repeated efforts to cancel the agreements and obtain refunds.
