The 9th annual Miles Davis Jazz Festival is coming up later this week and organizers believe this is could be one of the best line-ups yet. The headlining Russell Gunn Trio features two East St. Louis natives, while saxophonist Fred Walker returns for the third time. The show will take place this year at the Jacoby Arts Center in Alton on Saturday from 5-8pm.
Ken Whiteside is one of the organizers of the festival, which is sponsored by the Alton Museum of History and Art, and says honoring Davis with a musical celebration is important:

Also on the bill this Saturday will be the alternative-progressive rock band Locrian (LOW-cree-en) Manor. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased in advance at the Alton Museum of History and Art and at the Alton CVB office in downtown Alton.
