Madison County Transit is looking at changing the way stops are made in the Riverbend, starting in May. The proposed changes are geared toward improving access to employment in the region. One of the proposed changes involves consolidation on the #1X Riverbend Express and #12X Bethalto Express.
The #1X Riverbend Express picks up passengers at Eastgate Plaza, heads down Route 3, eventually crossing the McKinley Bridge and into Downtown St. Louis. Agency spokesman SJ Morrison says the plan is to have the Bethalto Express meet riders from Alton and Godfrey in East Alton.
There are also proposed changes to the #6 Extension to the Gateway Commerce Center, giving riders assitional pick-up points in Wood River, Roxana and South Roxana. There will be three "open house" style meetings to give your input on these proposals - on Tuesday, February 5 at the Wood River MCT Station from 5-6:30pm, the next night at the Bethalto Village Hall from 5:30-7pm, and Thursday, February 7 from 6-7:30pm at Julia's Banquet Center in Eastgate Plaza.
