The conviction of a 51-year-old Troy, Illinois man who was convicted in December of sexually assaulting and video recording a female acquaintance has led to a 9 year prison sentence. Byron D. Skalisius was convicted on one count of Criminal Sexual Assault and one count of Unauthorized Video Recording for his 2009 assault on a former co-worker.
The assault happened in June of 2009, when Skalisius placed GHB, known as the "date-rape drug" into one of his victim's drinks. While the victim had no memory of the assault, investigators determined one had happened, and it took place at her Glen Carbon home. While the two had worked together, there was no romantic relationship between the two. Skalisius (pictured) was acquitted on two other counts of Criminal Sexual Assault. The judge sentenced him to 7 years on the sexual assault and 2 years on the unauthorized recording conviction. He must serve at least 85% for the sexual assault and 50% for the recording conviction.
