The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office has filed charges against a St. Louis man in connection with recent robberies in the Riverbend. Prosecutors say 30 year old Trumel D. Freeman was charged with three Class X felonies for allegedly holding up businesses in Alton, East Alton and Wood River over the past three years.
The most recent took place when police say Freeman held up the Circle K convenience store on Stanley Road in East Alton on March 8, escaping with an unknown amount of cash. The other robberies took place last August in Alton, and in Wood River in October of 2012. Freeman is being held in the Madison County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bond.
