A 23-year-old man is facing federal charges after being arrested in the basement of the Lincoln Home in Springfield. Police say 23-year-old Jordan Clark of Springfield may have been trying to steal copper wire from the historic site’s air-conditioning system. They say he appeared to be under the influence when they found him early Saturday morning.
Officials say that the historic artifacts and furnishings weren’t in danger because there is no access to them from the basement. According to police, Clark threw a brick through a basement window in an attempt to gain access. An alarm system notified police who made the arrest within minutes of the break-in.
