A couple of counties in the metro area have placed restrictions on burning and local fire officials are now asking residents to be more aware of existing weather conditions before burning. Residents of Alton are allowed to burn their yards at anytime of year but Alton Fire Chief Bernie Sebold says that open burning isn't allowed until April 15th.

Madison County Emergency Management issued a warning about increased fire danger last week. St. Clair County has issued a no burn order until April 1st and residents of Jersey County are under a similar order until further notice.
