The Godfrey Village Board has updated rules regarding loud music at bars. Last fall, the village board passed an ordinance restricting the hours amplified music could be played outside after complaints from neighbors of the Rotten Apple on Montclaire Avenue. Now that the bar has closed, the rules have been changed.
Mayor Mike McCormick felt other bars were being restricted due to the ordinance that had been passed to deal with that situation.

McCormick says there is only one bar – Roper’s Regal Beagle on Godfrey Road – that currently has outdoor bands, and he has not received any complaints about them. Bars that have indoor music have never been affected by the ordinance, so long as the noise does disturb the neighbors.
