The governor’s plan to reduce the amount of income tax revenue by half would result in severe cuts at the local level, and the Mayor is making plans now, preparing for the worst-case scenario.

He says a reduction of funding by half would amount to the potential for at least a $1.2-million hit to the budget, but is hopeful negotiations in Springfield will at least cut that number in half. Walker says the picture should become clearer in a couple of weeks, with budgets at both the municipal and state level due by the end of the month.
