A building most recently used by Williams Office Supply may see a facelift if the Jerseyville TIF Board can come to an agreement with those wanting to use the building. Alan Gilmore, CEO of the Jersey County Business Association, says the location at the junction of Routes 67 and 109 is being considered by G.C. Lorton, Inc. as a possible headquarters for many of their businesses.

Gilmore says the creation of a TIF District has not shown much in the way of development yet, since little money has come in due to the way Illinois collects its property tax. In theory, the TIF will help keep the existing business district vibrant, as property owners will be able to use the TIF to make improvements to their utility service and other upgrades.
