The people of Illinois are urging Congress to reinstate federal unemployment benefits. Benefits were cut back in December and Jay Rowell with the Illinois Department of Employment Security says unemployed people have had a harder time finding work since the benefits expired last year.

Rowell says the that nearly 64,000 people in Illinois are still struggling to find gainful employment. The U.S. Senate voted to restore the benefits but the House hasn't followed suit.
