Illinois is filing an appeal to FEMA for tornado recovery aid for nine counties. The Federal Emergency Management Agency denied Illinois’ initial request for about six-million dollars in expenses last month. Thursday’s appeal requests over three-times as much money, which officials say is because of the added costs of debris removal and additional damages.
Seven people in central and far southern Illinois were killed when over twenty tornadoes tore across Illinois on November 17th of last year.
