Every year, thousands of families struggle to stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer. For many in the low-income category there is the LIHEAP program. By using similar guidelines, the Madison County Community Development Office is registering families for its home weatherization program.
The program is designed to help county residents seal up their homes, according to Madison County Community Development Planner Peggy Dugger. She says new applicants will be placed on a wait list and be notified by mail when they are eligible to apply.

More than 250 homes were weatherized last year, and Dugger expects to do at least 150 this year. Call 296-4443 for more information.
