Wood River Police have given the all clear to East Alton – Wood River High School following a morning lockdown.  The lockdown was caused by the report of a “suspicious person” in the area of the high school, but a search of the high school and surrounding area has not turned up anyone or anything.

East Alton – Wood River High School District Superintendent Dr. John Pearson tells The Big Z the campus was thoroughly searched after the lockdown began at about 7:50am

Pearson says the “suspicious person” - described as wearing a black trench coat with a bandana on his face - was never alleged to have been on campus.  Roxana Schools also went on a “soft lockdown” as a precautionary measure.  No specific threat has been received by any school.
