Twelve local school districts are coming together to help form the Mississippi Valley Inter-Government Cooperative in an effort to avoid seeing an increase in health insurance premiums. After negotiations, several school districts, including Alton, Edwardsville, Granite City, Collinsville and Roxana were able to purchase coverage without raising premium costs. There will be a slight rise in copay costs for all co-op participants however.
Under the new plan, copays for visiting a doctor's office increases from $20 to $25, emergency health care visits increases from $100 to $150, copays for brand name drugs rises from $25 to $30 and the cost for non-formulatory brand drugs increases from $40 to $50.
