One of the suspects in a home invasion accused of causing life-threatening injuries to an Alton resident has been sentenced to 18 years in prison following a guilty plea this week. 27-year-old Christopher Hill pleaded guilty to a single count of armed robbery in exchange for the prosecution agreeing to drop charges of attempted first-degree murder and home invasion.
The attack happened at the victim's home in the 1300 block of Pearl Street in Alton on January 16. The 55-year-old victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after an attack that also allegedly involved 24-year-old Rachel M. Barnes, 20-year-old DeMarco M. Smith, and 38-year-old Curtis J. Wallace. All three are charged with armed robbery and home invasion. Wallace is also charged with attempted murder.
