Grafton has approved $25,000 to go toward dredging a part of the Grafton Ferry route.  While this will not likely be a yearly expense, it is needed because of low river levels combined with debris on the riverbed just weeks after flooding impacted the river community.  Dredging begins today, and will continue next week

The contract the city has with the Calhoun Ferry Company - which operates the vessel - ensures operation May 1 through October 31, but Calhoun Ferry secretary Denise Knight says they will be cutting back to a Friday through Sunday schedule for the rest of the season.

The Ferry hours will be from 6am-9pm on Fridays, Saturday 10am-10pm, and Sunday 8am-8pm.
