The Godfrey Village Board could pick an Animal Control officer at its meeting Tuesday night. Rick French has been the animal control officer as long as most people can remember, but a couple of years ago his annual salary of $69,000 came under fire by some on the board that thought there might be a better deal available.
Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick says three proposals were submitted, including one by French, and the board will pick one tomorrow.

The current annual salary of about $69,000 includes the responsibility of maintaining a facility to hold the animals, a truck to do his job, and is on call 24/7. Also on the special agenda meeting is the Lights on Paris Drive issue. That was placed on the agenda after a handful of complaints were received a couple of weeks ago, but McCormick says there have no complaints about traffic in the two weeks since.
