If you were at Glazebrook Park for the Godfrey fireworks show last week you may have left feeling less than impressed. The show by many accounts ended short of expectations, with additional fireworks shot off as the crowd disbursed over a 15-20 minute time frame. Godfrey’s Park & Recreation Director says a representative from Central States Fireworks explained to her what happened.

She says they are offering to make good on next year’s show, with more fireworks and added protections. Similarly in Jerseyville, there were a number of shells shot off after the grand finale. Officials there say if any of the shells don’t fire during the regularly produced show, it is standard to shoot them off manually after the fact.
