If you are heading out on the road today, it will cost you a little more to fill up...just in time for Christmas.  Gas prices jumped on Monday by about a quarter to $3.39 per gallon for regular.  Prices were around $3.13 over the weekend at most Metro East stations.  Gas prices statewide in Illinois are up about a nickel per-gallon today, averaging $3.42.

Prices nationwide are about the same as they were last Christmas Eve, though they are down over 50-cents from high prices recorded over the summer.  Gas prices just across the river in West Alton, Missouri are about 20-cents less.
