A revised gambling bill is back on the table in Springfield. State Representative Bob Rita is offering a couple ideas that he thinks will clear the legislature this year. The first would allow a casino in Chicago only. It would be owned by the state, not the city of Chicago, which was a major point of contention in the last proposal.
A second option would allow a Chicago casino and four others across the state, but there will be fewer positions available. The extra revenue would be used for education, pensions, and for infrastructure upgrades.
