A man and woman from Park Hills, Missouri, are facing federal charges out of Illinois for sex trafficking. A teenager from Madison turned the couple in to authorities after going to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital on July 25. The 15-year-old says the couple sold her for sex in several cities this summer. She was reported missing on June 9.
28-year-old Marcus Thompson and 24-year-old Robin Thompson are charged with sex trafficking of a minor and conspiracy. They allegedly picked up the girl on a street in Madison in June with a promise of making money by modeling. The girl says she was threatened by the couple, beaten, and sold for sex in Florida and New Mexico, and in the Nashville, Dallas and St. Louis areas. The girl also told authorities she posed for videos that were used to promote prostitution, and there were other girls being held by the couple between the ages of 12 and 18. The case is being prosecuted under the federal Project Safe Childhood initiative.
