FBI officials say they've recovered 168 children and arrested 281 people during a major sex trafficking sting. "Operation Cross Country" targeted 106 major cities, including St. Louis. Federal officials partnered with local police during the three-day long bust in the St. Louis area, one child victim was rescued and one alleged pimp arrested.
Two children were recovered in Illinois. Authorities say many of the children who were found were never reported as missing. The FBI targeted the Internet, street corners and truck stops where the children were being used for sexual encounters. This was the 8th week-long operation of the year by the FBI targeting child sex trafficking, with nearly 36-hundred kids rescued so far. A spokesman says the country needs to know the majority of the children who are found are not foreign children, but are kids from the United States.
